Jersey & Piké
Our jersey and piké fabrics are produced in Norrkoping, Sweden. They are not to be washed in water warmer than 40°C/ 102°F. Never use chlorine or bleach, they will destroy the fabric.
Let your washed item drip-dry, tumble drying will cause shrinkage and possibly a change in form. (don’t dry in a drying space over 40°C /102°F). Do not iron as this will damage the lycra threads in the fabric. It usually hangs out nicely.
If you find that regular washing doesn’t free your garment from sweat smell, rinse it in 1/2 c. distilled White Vinegar(12%) per gallons of water or 1 cup of white distilled vinegar is added to the last rinse water. The acid in vinegar is too mild to harm fabrics, but strong enough to dissolve the alkalies in soaps and detergents.
Non-iron 100% Cotton
We use only 100% mercerized non-iron cotton from Germany for our shirts. The terms non-iron cotton and easy-care cotton are often used interchangeably, although they are not the same. The process of making them is similar in some aspects. Our non-iron cotton goes through an extra step where the cotton is mercerized, which strengthens the cotton and gives it a silky sheen that does not wash out. No skin-irritating chemicals are used in this process. Compared with a regular cotton shirt, our non-iron shirt stays wrinkle-free all day.
Caring for your Clergy Collection shirts:
- Wash the shirt buttoned up.
- Never use any form of bleach or chlorine to clean the collar or cuffs as the fliseline lining can discolour the shirt.
- Wash the shirt in hot water ( 60°C.-if necessary, 40°C- will extend it’s lifespan)
- Spin for only a few minutes
- Drip dry on a hanger, stretching it slightly at the seams and straightening out the collar and cuffs.
- Do not tumble dry.
- If shirt is wrinkled from spin cycle, hang the shirt on a hanger, stretching it slightly at the seams and straightening out the collar and cuffs; then shower it with hot water and let drip-dry without squeezing out the water.
Oko-tex standard 100 is a European certificate for different types of textiles. This demands that laboratorial tests of textiles be made to ensure they are free from chemicals that can be dangerous or irritate the skin. The tests are to be done by independent laboratories connected to Oko-tex.
